Why you should update all software?

The operating systems and applications you use every day can have security vulnerabilities. Developing software is time-consuming and complicated and errors and defects are regularly discovered by developers and testers. If so, they will be closed with security updates.

 

So, if you install updates regularly or automatically, you will receive the security update automatically and will be safer. If you are using an old and unsupported version of an application that does not have these latest updates, this is also a problem. You must also update to a current version of the application or operating system. 

 

There are many security vulnerabilities, but it is common for bugs to cause seemingly legitimate files to compromise the software. For example, a specially crafted PNG, GIF, or JPEG image, or even a plain MP3 music file, could be exploited by an application to execute malware .

A problem in a web browser can cause a malicious website to bypass your security and install malware. An operating system problem can cause a worm to take over a service and thus take over your system.

 

You can protect yourself by ensuring your software is up to date. Make sure you use applications that continue to be supported by security updates and, if possible, ensure that these updates are installed automatically.

Vulnerabilities in web browsers allow malicious websites to take control of your PC or install malware. Likewise, vulnerabilities in operating systems are quite dangerous and can lead to worms and other malware bypassing your security.

 

But it's not just about web browsers and operating systems. Other applications on your computer may also have security vulnerabilities. For example: MS Office, tools for archiving and unzipping files such as WinRAR, 7-Zip and WinZip, media player, ....!

However, if you have downloaded and installed a malicious file on this computer that has an older application on it, this can of course result in ransomware blocking access to your files.

 

It is important to recognize risks and there are risks when running outdated software. You don't always have to run the latest software versions, but you should run software that continues to be supported with updates.
