The system restore or the restore process takes a long time, why?
Windows 11, 10, ... etc. will restart your PC and begin restoring. It may take System Restore a while to restore all of these files!
Allow at least 15 minutes, possibly several hours, in rare cases it can also take days for Windows to restore everything, but when your PC is available again, you will be able to continue working at the selected restore point, then test whether it resolved any issues that were previously present on Windows.
1.) What should you watch out for with the additional restore points?
Please note that system restore creates an additional restore point when performing the restore process from the restore point, so that you can undo your actions from restoring at any time by performing the same process / action and selecting the newly created restore point and then again revert to the last status, for example if the problems were not resolved by resetting the operating system.
2.) How can I speed up system restore under Windows?
Likewise, there are duplicate and unnecessary data / files that are useless, these should also be cleaned up in order to speed up the system recovery the next time.
3.) Prevent system crashes during system recovery!
If you work on the MS Surface Pro, or Surface Go , as well as on tablet PCs and notebooks, these should not be done using battery power; if possible, pull the battery from the notebook, not in the event of a power failure (which is rather rare) the recovery will continue to be performed.
Forced shutdown of the computer should only be used in an emergency, if the computer has not given any feedback for a long time and the system has frozen, possibly there is a hardware defect, which can lead to constant crashes of Windows !
4.) More helpful tips / links on the point system restore!
System Restore is not an all-purpose tool, or a miracle cure, but it can fix a surprising number of system problems and is sadly very rarely used compared to other Windows recovery tools. System restore is almost always worth trying before resorting to more drastic measures and switching to other operating systems.
