The answer is very simple, you can't make money with freeware!
With freeware, one out of 100 users donates something, as a rule it does not even cover costs for the server, let alone other means, such as software licenses, or computers and other costs.
In the case of paid software, it is partly the other way around, we happily buy it as a gift and end up somewhere on the shelf, in the best case it is only used once by 100 people sold :-) Have fun! But it's easier to sell bad software than to give away good software. If you are considering programming freeware, then don't do it, don't hope for the generous Internet users, the days of freeware are long gone, unless you are Don Quixote! The software archive pages are full of software that nobody has tested, the information is from some press archive. Most software archives work on the principle of quantity instead of quality ;-). With up to over ~ 20,000 software on the pages, you would need around 100 employees to test these and also after updates, not only when these programs are updated, but also when a new operating system comes, or a Creators Update ;-).
But there are archives that test very extensively, some less, some more! Well, in any case, such a team of 100 * 3000 * 12 would cost almost 0.5 million euros per year, they would really have to have very good knowledge, so more likely 5000 euros per man. It's just not housewife's job.
I once accidentally compiled a program incorrectly, it was only after a few weeks that I noticed that it didn't work, nobody noticed, but it could be downloaded anywhere, can only happen is human ;-).
But I understand the pages, because since the big global players stormed into the net and grabbed all the profit, it is very difficult to stay afloat, even for larger portals with many qualitative employees! The network is full of boots and robots and a lot of manipulative tools and machinations flooded, a digital corona virus might even do the network good, you can see how the environment / nature benefits from a small virus. The relatively harmless thing is when you consider that every 10 seconds a person dies of hunger and medicine is simply "food" and not a pharmaceutical product! To my knowledge! I program with almost all programming languages, develop my own environments and solutions in almost all areas of graphics, system programming, 3D, .... I also deal with other operating systems, not just Windows, but have only published Windows freeware so far! FAQ 20: Updated on: 24 January 2021 13:12 |
