Cannot delete a folder merged with PowerQuest Partition Magic 8.0?
An interesting question and answer game!
I have a locked folder on my second hard drive that I cannot unlock or delete with FingerWeg. If I drag the folder onto the program, after a while there is a beep and nothing has happened. The folder was created by merging two partitions with PowerQuest Partition Magic 8.0 (the folder is practically the partition that has merged into the large one). Do you have any idea what else I can do?
Is it NTFS?
I forgot, yes it is NTFS, the operating system is Windows XP home.
In that way it is not a folder!
So, the folder is shown, but the hard drive is no longer there,
I had a hard drive with 2 partitions, one around 30 GB and one around 470 GB. I merged these two partitions into a single 500 GB partition with the Partition Magic program - the program writes the contents of the lost partition into a folder and packs this folder into the enlarged partition. I can't get to this folder anymore, I can neither open nor delete it (it is empty anyway, so it is over). Became clear?
I will simulate this today!
But it was definitely PQM 8.0?
It was, in fact, Power Quest Partition Magic 8.01. But whether the program will behave exactly like mine on another PC is not sure, actually there should be no problems at all when merging 2 partitions ...
I have not been able to reproduce the bug. Unfortunately !
Still, thanks a million for the effort!
In the meantime I have had success myself - the mistake is apparently not unknown. First I obtained the rights to the folder following Microsoft instructions. After that I was able to open it, but still not delete it (System Volume Information "cannot be deleted - but absolutely nothing of this" System Volume Information "could be seen).
After that, annoyed, I wanted to do something else and have Acronis 10 When specifying the storage space for the backup file, I happened to see my stubborn folder again, then I clicked on remove in Acronis - and it was gone.
I don't know what actually happened, but it doesn't matter.
