What is HDR?

HDR technology stands for high dynamic range technology that increases the color and contrast range of a television, computer monitor, ... etc.!

You know the poor transition between black and white on the old monitors, the HDR increases the distance/contrast between the blacks and the whites as well as the color depth. Essentially, it adds more realism to the images displayed and also makes them more vivid and realistic!

More detailed information about HDR!

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and is a technology and technique used in photography, cinematography and display technology to reproduce a wider and more true-to-life range of brightness and colors in images and videos. HDR is intended to make images appear more realistic and appear closer to what the human eye can perceive in terms of contrast, details and color depth.

Here are the key components of HDR:

Dynamic range:
Dynamic range refers to the difference between the darkest and lightest parts of an image or scene. In standard imaging, this area is often limited, resulting in either overexposed highlights or underexposed shadows. HDR techniques aim to capture and display a wider dynamic range.

Multiple exposures:
In photography, HDR is often achieved by taking multiple photos of the same scene at different exposure levels. These images, typically one underexposed, one properly exposed and one overexposed, are then merged or combined to create a single image with greater dynamic range.

Tone Mapping:
Once multiple exposures have been captured, they are processed through a technique called tone mapping. Tone mapping adjusts the brightness and contrast of the image to make it viewable on standard displays while retaining as much detail as possible from the wider dynamic range.

HDR displays:
HDR content is best enjoyed on displays designed for it. HDR displays can reproduce a wider range of brightness and colors compared to traditional displays. They often have higher peak brightness and can display a wider color space.

HDR Content:
To fully enjoy HDR, you need HDR content. This can include HDR encoded videos, HDR games, or HDR processed photos. These content types contain the additional information needed to use HDR ads.

HDR technology has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in television and streaming services, where it improves the viewing experience by providing more vivid and lifelike images. Additionally, HDR is widely used in photography and video production to create stunning images with greater depth and realism.
