Percentage display usage overview of the partitions in Q-Dir or in MS File Explorer?

I activate an overview of the partition usage in Q-Dir which is identical to that in MS File Explorer. This answer is valid for Windows 10, 11, 12 and MS Server!

1. In Q-Dir:
2. In MS File Explorer:
3. Why is such an occupancy overview useful?

1.) In Q-Dir:

1. Open Q-Dir (Quad File Explorer).

2. To make the partition usage display visible, proceed as follows:

- Right-click on the column header (e.g. "Name", "Size").

- In the context menu, select the option Add Columns or directly select "Size" and "Free Space" .

- Now you can see the absolute size and free space of the partitions as numerical values.

3. A graphical bar display of the usage (e.g. horizontal and colored) is currently not natively available in Q-Dir. For advanced views, however, you can activate the percentage display for free and used storage areas

: - Go to the settings under Tools > Options and adjust the view accordingly.

💡 Tip: In the standard view of Q-Dir, all partitions are displayed the same regardless of their size. This cannot currently be dynamically adjusted to display absolute size differences (such as a 500GB partition vs. a 1TB partition) proportionally.

2.) In MS File Explorer:

1. Open File Explorer .

2. Select 'This PC' in the left navigation bar.

3. The drives will be displayed and under each drive you will automatically see a bar graph showing the storage usage :

- The display is in percent by default and shows free and used space in different colors (e.g. blue for used storage, red for low remaining capacity).

4. Note that MS File Explorer always displays partitions relative to their own size - regardless of whether they are 500GB or 1TB.

- There is no option for absolute scaling as you described.

3.) Why is such an occupancy overview useful?

A storage usage overview helps you:

- Identify bottlenecks early (e.g. when storage space is running low).

- Quickly compare drives with each other when all partitions are displayed proportionally.
