1.) RAID and AHCI!

RAID , is a collection of hard drives connected and set up to help protect and/or speed up the performance of a computer's hard drive storage.

With Windows 11, 10, ... you can use the software raid ! This works from Windows Server 2003.

See here: ►►   ... Software - Configure RAID 1 from Windows Server 2003 !

This page describes how to configure a software RAID on a Windows Server 2003. However, this also applies to all other Windows systems from 2003, such as Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. Here you will also find instructions for creating an emergency diskette and how to use mirrored hard disks (software raid) to to prevent any emergencies.

AHCI is just a specification or an open interface standard . The throughput of the hard disk is increased by a few percent. This should be deactivated when installing Windows XP, as problems can arise. With Windows 7 and 10, 11, 8, 8.1 you can usually carry out the installation with activated AHCI without any problems!

The advantage is that the second drive does not have to be identical, but at least the size of the volume that is to be mirrored, in order to enable mirroring.
