Running Visual C++ 6.0 on Windows 11, 10 and 8.1!


The solution is simple to run Visual C++ 6.0 on Microsoft Windows 11, 10 and 8.1 or the new MS Windows Server 2022, 2019, ... !

1.) Solution 1: Run Visual C++ 6.0 on Windows 8.1 by simply renaming!

In Windows 8, Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 works without problems but when upgrading to Windows 8.1 or after reinstalling Windows 8.1, it comes at the start to crash of MS Visual C++ 6.0. (... see Image-1 Arrow-1)

Now do not panic!
Open the %Program Files%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDev98\Bin\ folder!
And rename the MSDEV.EXE to MSDEV-S.exe, it can also be another name :-)
You can also make a copy! (... see Image-2 Arrow-1)

Start the Visual Studio C + + with the MSDEV-S.exe! At this point they can also create a desktop shortcut to the Windows 8.1 desktop!

After some time you re-rename again to MSDEV - KOPIE.exe or MSDEV - Copy.exe etc. 
Is it ??? with intentional  from Microsoft blocked ???

2.) Solution 2: With Visual Studio 6 and Service Pack 6!

If you are using VC6, and after installation, when you start the Msdev.exe it still comes to a crash in Windows 8.1, you must perform these steps:

Download the SP6 for Visual Studio: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9183

Then unzip the VS6sp61.cab package in a directory, for example with Winrar or 7zip!

Copy the files from the SP6 in the MSDEV directory and replace the files in the folder:
\MSDev98\bin and \MSDev98\Bin\IDE Try to start with the msdevP.exe or msdevS.exe. (... see Image-3)

Now it should be possible to work with MS-VC6 on Windows 8.1! (... see Image-4)

3.) Runs Visual Studio 6 on Windows 11 and Windows 10?


On Windows 10, Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 works without problems and also when upgrading to Windows 10 fall Creators and on Windows 10 2004 is also O.K.! 

Visual Studio 6.0 also works on Windows 11 if necessary. Rename MSDEV.exe often!
