Can I disable in Windows 8 automatically arranged of desktop icons (10, 7, 8.1)?


It is quite easy to disable and enable in MS Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 7 and 10 the automatically arrange of desktop icons.


 

Windows rearranges the desktop icons unsolicited and random on many machines . Especially on large screens and with many neatly arranged desktop icons that is pretty annoying. But fortunately there is a remedy. Here are some tips to keep the icons in the right place if you not use the save desktop icons locations toll.

1.) ... Arrange symbols automatically! 
2.) ... With the Freeware Windows Metrics adjust the grid spacing of the desktop icons!

1.) Arrange symbols automatically! 

1. Please press the Windows key combination [Win-Logo]+[D].

2. Right-clicking via mouse on an empty area of the Windows desktop to display the context menu.

3. Here simply select "View" [... see Image 1 Arrow-1]

4. Then either enable or disable auto arrange Icons ( ... See image-1 Arrow-2 ).

You can also enable or disable: align desktop icons to grid.Or even completely hide the desktop icons.

2.) With the Freeware Windows Metrics adjust the grid spacing of the desktop icons!

After the download please start the program and change the vertical or horizontal desktop icon distance ( ... see picture-2 arrow-1 )! Unfortunately, a MS Explorer restart is required! With Windows 8/81 also a logout!  

( ... see picture-2 arrow-2 )! With the button "Default" you can reset everything back to standard values! I wrote the

tool myself (Nenad Hrg) , it is in the development and is a part of DesktopOK! And a little extended :)! 

It works on Windows 8, 8.1, XP Server 2000-2012!
