Windows x64 operating systems, what´s that?

Windows x64 operating systems are 64-bit operating systems!

1.) ... The Windows x64 operating system!
2.) ... More detailed information about the Windows x64 operating system!

1.) The Windows x64 operating system!

The 64-bit allows much larger amounts of memory to be addressed linearly! With x86 (x32) you can only address up to 3.5 GB of RAM under Windows. With x64, theoretically  up to 16 TB of storage. But as a rule, most motherboards do not support this amount of memory and the operating systems themselves also limit how much RAM can be managed !

E.g.:
Windows 7 Starter can only manage 2 gigabits.

Windows 7 Home Basic has a maximum of 4 GB of RAM in the 32-bit version. In the 64-bit /x64 version 8 GB is supported!

With Windows 7 Home Premium, the RAM limitation is 16 GB.

Windows 7 Professional / Windows 7 Ultimate / Windows 7 Enterprise it is 192 GB!

Windows 10 Professional / Windows 10 Enterprise it is 512 GB!

Windows 11 Professional / Windows 11 Enterprise it is 512 GB!

2.) More detailed information about the Windows x64 operating system!

A Windows x64 operating system is a variant of the Microsoft Windows operating system designed specifically for computers with 64-bit processors. Here is some important information:64-bit processors:

Windows x64 operating systems are designed to run on computers with 64-bit processors. Unlike 32-bit processors, 64-bit processors can handle larger amounts of memory and data, resulting in improved performance and functionality.

More memory: One of the main advantages of 64-bit operating systems is the support for more RAM (memory). 32-bit operating systems are limited to a limited amount of RAM (typically 4 GB), while 64-bit operating systems can support significantly more memory, often several terabytes.

Software compatibility:Most modern applications and games are also available in 64-bit versions to take advantage of the increased performance and storage capacity of 64-bit systems. However, some older software applications may not be compatible with a 64-bit operating system.

Speed and Stability: 64-bit operating systems are typically better able to take advantage of modern hardware and offer improved performance and stability for demanding tasks.

Security: 64-bit operating systems also offer advanced security features to better defend against attacks and threats.

About:

Windows has offered 64-bit versions of its operating system for many years, and most current Windows computers are likely to use a 64-bit version of Windows because they can use modern hardware and software more efficiently. The exact version may vary, e.g. Windows 10 x64, Windows 11 x64 etc.
