1.) Router briefly explained to understand it!

Routes = forwarded! The best-known routers in the private sector are Speedport and the AVM FritzBox. A router has much more functions than other network devices, such as a simple hub, or a so-called switch, which can only perform basic network functions.

For example, a hub is often used to transfer data between computers or network devices, but does not analyze and do nothing with the transferred data. In contrast, routers can analyze the data sent over a network, change how it is packed, and send it to another network or to another network. For example, routers are often used in home networks to share a single Internet connection between multiple computers.

2.) Technically, to know more about routers and data traffic!

A router is a network device that controls traffic between two or more networks. It is an essential part of the Internet infrastructure and allows devices on different networks to communicate with each other.

This allows data traffic to be routed between different devices in a network in a controlled manner. Routers play a crucial role in routing data packets between computers, smartphones, tablets and other devices on a local area network (LAN) and the broader network, be it the Internet or another network.

In the home network, the router is responsible for Internet access. It establishes the connection between the home LAN or WLAN and the public Internet. The router receives a public IP address from the Internet Service Provider (ISP), which is required to communicate with the Internet. The devices on the home network then use private IP addresses that cannot be used to communicate with the Internet. The router takes on the task of translating the data packets between the public and private IP addresses.

Companies and other organizations also use routers to connect different networks. For example, a company network can be connected to a public network to allow employees to access the Internet. Routers can also be used to connect two or more corporate networks to enable data exchange between the networks.

The main functions of a router are to forward data packets between two or more networks, translate public IP addresses with private IP addresses, control traffic between networks, and provide security features. Routers are an indispensable element for communication in computer networks. They allow devices on different networks to communicate with each other and control data traffic between networks.
