Difference between autorun and autostart?

Confusion arises with Windows, MAC-OS and Linux with the terms autorun, autoplay and autostart!

1.) ... Auto-start under Windows!
2.) ... understand auto-run!
3.) ... The Auto Play!

1.) Auto-start under Windows!

This includes apps and programs that are automatically executed when Windows starts, but this is also available on smartphones and iPhone, as well as all operating systems, where background services are often started that are system-relevant in order to make the respective operating system user-friendly at all ! For example: touch display drivers and software, keyboard services, WiFi services, loudspeakers and microphone drivers and services, ... etc.

There are sometimes hundreds of background services necessary for the PC or the smartphone in general to be able to use!

2.) Understand Auto-Run!

The Auto-Run is essentially the same as "Auto Start", but Auto Start mostly refers to programs, APPs, services and background programs that are started immediately when the system is started.

However, there are also services and programs that are only started when required or time-controlled in order not to burden the system unnecessarily, for example, only when a USB device is connected does the system check the connection and start the required components! Or start the auto-play!

Info: ►►  Auto-Run in the Windows Registry!

3.) The Auto Play!

Auto-play is often described or equated with auto-run on the Internet!

Auto-Play is a function of the Windows, Linux, Mac-OS, ... operating system that triggers or starts specified system actions when certain media are inserted!

Common types of media that auto-play actions include CDs, DVDs in traditional format, or Blu-Ray format, and USB storage devices such as flash drives or external hard drives.

Auto-play was originally thought of as a means of automatically starting script launch actions. When the system detects new media and finds an autorun.inf file, the system tries to follow all the instructions contained in that INF file.

Info: ► Adjusting the automatic playback settings in Windows 10, (autoplay, activate, deactivate)!
