Reset the Maintenance Center in Windows?


To reset the Maintenance Center (or Security and Maintenance Center) in Windows, you can try the following methods:







1. Reset Notifications in the Maintenance Center
2. Reset via Windows Registry
3. Reset Maintenance Tasks
4. Repair System Files








1.) Reset Notifications in the Maintenance Center



If you want to reset the notifications, follow these steps:

- Open the Maintenance Center via the Control Panel or by typing `Maintenance Center` in the Start menu.

- Click on Change maintenance settings.

- Disable the notifications you want to reset and save the changes.

- Enable them again to restore the default notification settings.




2.) Reset via Windows Registry



You can reset the Maintenance Center by deleting or modifying its registry entries.

Steps:

1. Press `Win + R`, type `regedit`, and hit Enter.

2. Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Action Center
3. Back up the registry by selecting File > Export.

4. Delete the keys or values related to the Maintenance Center or notifications.

5. Restart your PC to apply the changes.




3.) Reset Maintenance Tasks


To reset scheduled maintenance tasks:

Steps:
1. Open the Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Enter the following command:
msched.exe /RESETMAINTENANCETASKS
(Note: This command might vary depending on your Windows version. You can also check scheduled tasks in Task Scheduler.)




4.) Repair System Files



If the Maintenance Center is malfunctioning, repairing system files can help:

Steps:

1. Open the Command Prompt as Administrator.

2. Run the following commands:
sfc /scannow
Then:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

After completing these steps, the Maintenance Center should be reset to its default state.
